The Better Brother by Rye Hart

Trust Your Heart & Your Head Julie

This latest story by Rye Hart is fantastic. It has a gorgeous hero in Michael who meets a feisty young woman, Julie, who has just moved to the small town of Ennis after having broken up with her selfish ex, Josh, whom she supported for two years whilst he was in medical school then just decided that he didn’t want the relationship. She’s sitting in the coffee shop when Michael comes up and asks if he may join her. They are both very attracted to one another and the conversation flows so easily that they start to date. Michael is a very successful businessman and he invites her to have a family meal with him and to meet his brother [his long lost brother that he only found out about 3 years previously??]. This is one family meal that will never be forgotten as in walks Josh. Talk about awkward! Josh seems that he’s upset that she’s moved on and is happy with Michael. Lies are told. Secrets are kept. All leading to misunderstandings. Will Michael and Julie’s fairly new relationship stand a chance at survival? The dialogue between these two characters is so good and you can almost ‘feel’ the sparks and heat between them. But is that enough? Should she trust anything that Josh says? I’m not going to tell you as it is quite a problematic conundrum that Rye has given us here. Poor Julie who and what is she to believe? Will she listen to her heart or her head? So wonderfully written that Rye caught my attention at page one and kept me focussed on the book right to the end. At one point I really wasn’t sure how everything was going to pan out but it was well worth the lack of sleep I had to finish the story to find out if their was a HEA! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED
