Redemption by Emily Bishop

  Healing Lily

Fox is our ‘hero’ in this story and I took quite some time to believe that. He was a rockstar who gave up everything when his wife who was pregnant died. He has given up the whole rockstar life of womanising, drugs and alcohol and heads back home where he sees his high school sweetheart [who he claims was way too good for him and he was terrified that she would die – as everyone he’ loved ‘ died !]. Talia is now ‘mum’ to her dead sisters little girl, Lily and she is having trouble dealing with her mum’s tragic death but says she will be good if she can have piano lessons.  And guess who is giving piano lessons now that he’s back in town? Emily Bishop has composed this latest story for us with it’s unique storyline and plenty of emotions.  I don’t understand why Fox left Talia – if he had ‘loved’ her so much, he would have stayed with her not left and married someone else [as he supposedly ‘loved’ her too!]  The only thing that kept me reading, as I disliked Fox and Talia seemed to just let him trample all over her and she just let him, was his way with Lily and how he helped that sad little girl to heal.  This is a tragic story from which good does eventually come round for those involved and such a good ending that it was well worth reading.  I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
