Miraculous Encounter
Emma is a bright and feisty young woman who knows what she wants and cares passionately about those she loves and cares for – as well being passionate about engineering and ethics in technology! But she does have a secret – due to circumstances beyond her control, she has been informed by doctors that she cannot have children which she is devastated about. She is what many would call a ‘geek’ but she is more than happy about that but her speciality is ethics in technology! She goes to a conference where she meets the famous geek, wealthy, handsome, actually gorgeous, David Carlson CEO of the first firm to make driverless cars] and unbelievably they really hit it off both intellectually and with physical attraction too. They spend a red hot passionate night together but Emma ‘knows’ that he is way out of his league and leaves. She never expects to hear from him [she forgets that she never gave him her number] and has to get on with her life – including the miraculous ‘surprise’ that happens. Years later she applies for a job at his firm since she is now qualified and hopes that he won’t have anything to do with the selection process [though she suspects he wouldn’t even remember her]. But she does get the dream job and settles in quickly though she avoids David as she has one secret that he must never find out about! I am a fan of BB. Hamels stories as I love her relaxed writing style, her wonderful and unique storylines. It was so easy to feel as if I almost ‘knew’ Emma and David as her descriptions are full of flavour so that 2D objects [written words] can become 3D objects that are animated and ‘alive’. Their banter is witty and believable and when he does seek her out he makes her a proposition that will change their lives. But what will he do if he discovers her secret?? Will they be able to have a second chance at a relationship?? Is the chemistry still there between them that was smoking hot?? I loved this story from page one to the very last. There are some wonderful secondary characters such as Sven and Olivia that make this story come alive too!. This is a story that I will be re-reading in the future as it is so good.
