Unexpected Love
When Vivian was 10 years old, both her parents died in a tragic accident. Fortunately for her, her best friend Bella’s dad, Boyce, took her in so she could grow up with her best friend. Boyce, has not had the easiest of lives as he was devastated when his wife died and it took years for him to get over it. He is a hard-working man who adores his daughter and loves Vivian in a paternal way and cares for them both the very best that he can. I did feel uncomfortable when I read about him having sex with some woman but thinking only of Vivian whilst doing so? Now many young teenagers are so beautiful both inside and out that there is always the risk of men/boys loving them. But Boyce does not act on his feelings for her – otherwise I would not have been able to read the rest of the book. Bella Winters/Mia Ford is such a fabulous author that she creates a plot that makes you really think, and I certainly did about this one, and characters with emotions and personalities that you can gate, love or like. I did eventually love the way that Boyce felt for Vivian as his was a genuine adult love for her, as an adult, and not those for a little girl! Vivian is a mature young woman who grew up fast when her mum and dad died and she has had a crush on Boyce for years so I wasn’t too surprised with what happened between them. Mia has a real talent at making the ‘people’ come alive as you read the book and whilst I would have a bit longer period for them to have together as a couple within this book I could understand their genuine feelings for one another and the intimate moments between them were amazing and sensuous and full of love, passion and caring and , of course, HEAT! Despite that moment at the beginning, I did love this story as Mia pens her stories with a relaxed flowing style that takes you alone for the ride of the story and leaves the reader to enjoy. There is a warning in the blurb about the nature of the book and I believe that is sufficient to warn people who would find it offensive to avoid. I did read it and, all things taken into account, I read it with an open mind. It is a really good, well written, fast paced story that, apart from the blip where I paused, I really did enjoy it and as Vivian was over 18 when they did succumb to their passions for one another, I have no problem with their age differences.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED
I am now looking forward to Mia’s next story with enthusiasm!
P.S. There are some fantastic bonus stories that the reader also has the opportunity to read and I bought a copy of this to add to my collection of books that I want to re-read in future.
