His Surprising Mate
This is the fourth book in the Koleman Brothers of The Mountain men Of Bear Valley by Chantel Seabrook and Frankie Love. They could each be read as standalones but really so much better in sequence as you get to know the characters all the better. Bennett and Piper who are the hero and heroine of this final book have appeared in the other books and seemed to actively avoid each other. He is known as a playboy in the Valley although he has never kissed a woman as that could lead to him discovering that he has a fated Mate and he would rather avoid that. Piper is relatively new to the Valley as she moved here with her three friends and they are all now happily mated to his brothers and settled down with family. Bennett has worked his life towards being Chief of the Bear Council and is now ready. However, the retiring Chief warns him of a few caveats that he’s avoided – namely that he should be mated and, preferably, married! At one of his brother’s weddings he claims that he is mated and looks around desperately to find a female who won’t be all over him like a rash if he kisses her. It’s then that he spies Piper who is a little bit tipsy making her way towards him. He grabs and kisses her before thinking and instantly realises that she is His Mate!!!! Oh heck! One ‘lie’ leads to another to another and before long it would appear that they are not only a couple but engaged to be married all to avoid her mum’s matchmaking and aid his chance of being Chief. Meanwhile what is happening between them behind closed doors?? Well I know as I’ve read and enjoyed the story and I’m not going to spoil it for you. I will say that it was one of my favourites of this series as I loved the suspense behind the storyline as well as how well Piper and Bennett were together. I do wonder whether Willow, his sister, is going to get a book of her own?? A great story and very entertaining from first to last page. I read this in one go as I couldn’t bear to put it down. These two authors are a terrific team and I look forward to reading more stories co-authored by them as well as written individually.
