Billionaire Crave: A Billionaire Romance by Lauren Wood

  So Much Potential

This is the latest story by Lauren Wood who has been one of my favourite authors for a while now.  The story surrounds a billionaire called Red Dyson who is a rather mysterious man with some very ‘dodgey’ dealings.  I wasn’t too happy that he went to buy a gun from an awful man called Goff or Golf or Gulf depending what part of the book you were reading.  he’s so vile that he’s kidnapped a young woman called Kristan from England and brought her to the USA [how did they get through customs??] thinking that she is Red’s sister Anna by mistake.  When Red sees her he is attracted to her and agrees to pay the ‘ransom’ as he wants her in his bed. He makes her work for him to pay off her ransom debt!!!!She’s attracted to him and agrees and has to go everywhere with him – including sharing his home where they fall into bed together. But Red only beds a woman once and then discards her. But he doesn’t with her.  There was so much potential here – ignoring the typo errors.  I know this is fiction but really to develop the characters for this storyline I feel it needed to be much longer – particularly for Red’s character as he had so much to alter in his personality that with his ‘instant’ changes came across as false. If he had been a decent and honorable man he would have immediately taken Kristan to the authorities to repatriate her and help her through her trauma – NOT blackmail her into paying off her ransom debt. I know there is supposed to be an instant attraction between them but even so he could still have made a connection with her whilst trying to help her through her ordeal legally.  This is all at the beginning of the book and I’m not giving anything away that happens at the end you’re going to have to read it for yourself to find out what happens to everyone. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Accidentally Met Her: An Accidental Marriage Romance by Lauren Wood

  AVOID

This is the latest story by Lauren Wood and unfortunately I thought the dialogue was very stiff and some parts of the story really either unbelievable or what a totally stupid ‘heroine’ Candy must be! It is not the book for me as I don’t like reading about cheating and this story is inundated with it. Colt and Candy met in a bar in Las Vegas where she is with her friend who is getting married. They marry each other but the next day he wakes up with her gone but her wedding ring not on her finger but on the bed. So she must realise she is married when she woke up and wondered why she had a wedding ring on her finger to then take it off surely? Wouldn’t a rational person with any intelligence realise that something had happened they should know about instead of just taking the ring off and fleeing and then claiming she knew nothing about it? But no..it’s supposedly only when she is at the altar marrying Jax that she ‘discovers’ that she is already married? Memory not very good perhaps? But then we have Colt, her husband a native of Las Vegas and solicitor there. He knows that he is married to her but has basically spent just about every night of over seven years committing adultery by having one night stands? He doesn’t always wear a condom so he must be riddled with disease. He then allegedly wants a real marriage with her? If he’d been that keen why wait seven years? Why sleep with thousands of other women if he thinks marriage is so important? Now some will say I’m being naive to think cheating doesn’t happen. Not true I know that it happens but I don’t like to read it glorified as, I’m so sorry to say, it is in this book. Spoiler alert – which I don’t normally do – but the ending just does not make sense with her solicitor doing what her mother says when Candy is supposed to be the client?? Is Candy a pushed around mouse? She doesn’t seem like it otherwise. I normally love Lauren’s stories but this one just did not work and seemed disjointed and as for Jax he obviously wans’t that upset that her divorce didn’t take place. Then there is the issue of grammar – it really needs to be gone over very carefully and have a major overhaul to correct all the mistakes.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Sorry just not for me as there are too many grammatical errors, too much cheating and the characters just don’t seem to be a couple apart from s@x. Really disappointed as I was looking forward to this book and hate leaving a negative review.

First Time: My Best Friend’s Little Sister Romance by Lauren Wood

Lauren Wood has been a favourite author of mine for some time now as I love her relaxed writing style and the way she draws me into her great storylines.  One thing I just don’t like reading about in stories is cheating.  I’m afraid there are multiple examples of cheating throughout the book and this spoilt the story for me.  There didn’t need to be any cheating on Aria’s side if only she’d spoken to her long term boyfriend who wanted a more serious and permanent relationship with her – but she wanted to re-enlist!  But then  later, having met David whom she cheats with, she doesn’t want to re-enlist but go into fashion?  Not the strong willed and upright character that we are lead to believe that she is.If you can ignore pr don’t mind the cheating, then the story is interesting. Admittedly David is arrogant and hasn’t had the best of upbringing and he’s basically a womaniser and playboy who is suspicious of his best friend’s intentions which is sad.  I’m pleased to say that over the book I did come to really like David and Aria [ignoring the cheating]. First Lust: My Best Friend’s Little Sister Romance by Lauren Wood

   Love At Second Sight

Callie was getting over a break up and went to a club one night. There she met Teddy. Tall and gorgeous and oh so s@xy!  They had a night of red hot passion and said good bye.  Five years later her parents die and she is introduced to a brother, David, whom she knew nothing about before.  So the two are to run their dad’s business together and all is going well until he brings in his best friend, Ted, to be second in command whilst he ran the factory and Callie ran the office. Guess who Ted is?  No he’s not Ted – he’s TEDDY!!!!!  They’ve  both thought of each other over the years and this is their chance to get to know each other even better.  I really loved Teddy as he was such fun and yet so sensible, mature, caring and knew what he was doing.  Callie is a great character but I don’t know why she puts up with David’s bully-boy childish attitude. If I found out that I had a brother like that he would still have to be respectful and not domineering and rude just for the sake of it.  As you can tell – I do not like David at all – he seemed okay at first but just slowly deteriorated in my mind.  As you probably also can tell, I did enjoy this story very much as it was generally very well written [a few typos]  and a fantastic storyline!  Lauren Woods  has pulled out all the stops to give us this great book and I look forward to even more from this USA top best selling author!I received a reader’s copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest review of it here.  Get your own copy now – definitely recommended!!

One Last Touch: A Second Chance Romance Kindle Edition by Lauren Wood

   Will She Forgive Him?

Cal and Mariss were at college together but he was the bad boy playboy who had any female that he wanted. When he spotted her he knew that he would have her and he did in one amazing night but then she left without a word to go and care for her aunt.  Years later they meet at their best friends’ wedding that goes belly up.  he’s had too much to drink and has [unbeknown to Mariss is engaged to his boss’s daughter whom he doesn’t love but got him fast track promotion] another night with Mariss. But what is going to happen when she finds out that he made her the ‘other woman’???  He’s not being fair to either female in his life!  I must admit I think Mariss is a bit of a doormat in so many ways and Cal just repulsed me at times.  But then again, this is a book by Lauren Wood who is a top USA best selling author who I am a fan of her stories. There is some great witty dialogue and humour. This isn’t by any means a favourite of mine – mainly as I just don’t like books with any cheating at all – I only continued reading as it was by Lauren and well written.  I do, however, look forward to Lauren’s next book being published and I will definitely be getting a copy of that to read. I received a reader’s copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.  A well written story.

One Last Kiss: A Second Chance Romance by Lauren Wood

  A Must Have Read

This latest story by Lauren Wood should come with several warnings and as she has been remiss to not include them for the readers I will do so here:

  • Switch off your phone
  • Lock the doors
  • Switch on your fans/air con to MAX COOL
  • Have a cool drink to cool you off too
  • have hankies at the ready for tears
  • Settle yourself down for STEAM HEAT!
  • Oh boy, has Lauren written a really HOT story for us here.  With a storyline that draws you in right on page one and keeps you engrossed right to the last.  the main protagonists, Mack and Danielle [Danny] are such vibrant characters so full of life and surprises. They have been apart for ten years and she doesn’t think he will recognise her as he has changed so much outwardly.  But Mack knows exactly who she is and always will be – HIS.  All of their second chance is wrapped up in steamy passionate scenes with some regrets thrown into the mix, some tears, some great humour and witty banter and a satisfying ending. The one part that I really didn’t like about mack was he brought a date to their High School reunion to show off – why on earth bring someone when he was really wanting to get back and have a chance with Danny??  Men!!  To find out if Danny will even speak to Mack and what happens you’ll need to get yourself a copy and read and I do so hope that you enjoy it as much as I did. I received a reader’s copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.

Definitely recommended!  Looking forward to her next book!

   Lauren’s Storytelling At Her Best!

This is the latest Mountain Man story by Lauren Wood and you are in for a treat.  Denise, whom we met in the previous book [Mountain man’s Bride with Molly and Chris] and Ethan [he is an Alaskan but not from Nome and is working on the new harbour being built to attract tourism to the area]. Denise is still working for Molly [a really nice young woman who appears in quite a few of the scenes – think bathroom and Ethan with no clothes on in the shower – but her husband Chris is not mentioned at all?] and she is feeling rather lonely to be honest and despite Molly encouraging her to accept a date with one of the many men who ask her, she just won’t as she doesn’t think they are ‘right’ for her. Then this gorgeous man walks in and she can’t keep her eyes off him.  He can’t keep his eyes off her either and his name is Ethan!  The feisty little red head is driving him crazy and he has a bet that he will get further with her than any man in Nome.  But don’t think that he is a womanising jerk as he isn’t.  He is a good man and is very attracted to Denise and when Molly encourages him to go after Denise as she’s spotted them watching each other the whole time every day that he comes in. So he gets talking about the wildlife and hunting and one thing leads to another and she ends up letting him hunt behind her home.  The passion between these two is SCALDING and can’t be denied once they have tasted each other.  They are just so good together and I loved both their characters.  The problem on the horizon is that some people in Nome don’t want the tourists and threats have been made and, unfortunately, they escalate till there are fatalities.  This is a lovely story that I really enjoyed and so wanted there to be a HEA for Ethan and Denise.  He is so caring and never leads her on. He is honest and does not try to hide his deep feelings for her and thinks he is so lucky that she wants him also.  But with the threats getting more dangerous, is it safe for Ethan to be working there?Who will die?  Will Ethan and Denise have their own HEA or is life too complicated and he just goes back home when /if the project is finished? This is a fast paced read that had me enjoying the humour [shower scene] and the love surrounding these two, nice and believable people. I am a fan of Lauren’s stories and this one illustrates her writing at it’s best.  I thoroughly encourage you to get yourself a copy of this story and enjoy!  be prepared to switch off your phone, don’t answer the door and have your fan at the ready for those steamy sizzling scenes. Looking forward to Lauren’s next story with impatience. I received a reader’s copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest review of it here.

Mountain Man’s Bride by Lauren Wood

Where Are The REAL Mountain Men?

Chris was always after the ‘next female’ he could have even as a teenager but once he met Molly, that all stopped and everyone thought he had found The One and that he was really in love. he took her virginity and then left Nome, the only home she had ever known. She was devastated when he left but he obviously didn’t love her to leave like that without a goodbye. I felt so very sorry or Molly who had , quite obviously, been used by Chris. He was just falling back into his pattern as a womaniser.  Eight years later Molly has proven to be a resourceful and good business woman with a thriving business and she is held in high esteem by the community. Then Chris comes back to Nome and very much the wealthy billionaire playboy. True to type he has spent the last eight years chasing and having women one after the other with no relationships nor responsibilities for someone else but his selfish self.  I tried but I do not like Chris as he comes across as a major jerk and I’m not the least bit interested in all his ‘conquests’ – the probably most important question for Molly was whether had had been checked officially to ensure that he was not carrying any sexually transmitted disease after his mass seductions over the years.  I know that this fiction but I’m not impressed with womanisers as they don’t tend to change their pattern of behaviour at all. I normally LOVE Lauren Wood’s stories but he grated on me about his lack of caring for Molly and just using her to get what he wanted – i.e. the land, money and her in the sack again.  he never even thought about what it would mean to Molly him starting a relationship with her again and then, as true to type, he left her for a second time broken hearted. His behaviour was cruel and Molly was a woman who was vulnerable and still in love with who she thought he was [but who, sadly, he wasn’t].  It is very well written by Lauren whose writing style I enjoy very much.  I have never had anything like this happen to me but if I had been Molly I would have closed the door on his face when he returned after eight years and left it double bolted shut to him.  He didn’t love her eight years ago and this time, supposedly eight years more mature [chasing skirt habitually] he plays her again and leaves again having used her and got what he wanted.  I honestly don’t see how she could trust him when he left for a second time.  The ending in the book was lovely and well written but I found it to be totally unbelievable on Chris’s part. Sorry – just didn’t like Chris’s character.  I give 3.5 stars for the great writing style and characters [with the exception of Chris].  I am, however, looking forward to Lauren’s next Mountain Man’s story.
