Billion Dollar Man by Ali Parker

  A Brilliant Suspenseful Story!

I ‘discovered’ Ali Parker’s books last year and have been addicted to them ever since.  I love the way she weaves a story.  The way she develops her characters that are so believable and 3-dimensional. The way they pull at your heart strings and I always end up liking them [well apart from the obvious unpleasant ones ]. In this  book I loved Mila as the heroine. The hero was Ben, who is her brother’s best friend so obviously their love would break the ‘bro code’.  She had a crush on him as a child but nothing happened. He always wanted to be a firefighter but work in New York pulled him away. When his parents and ‘uncle’ die in suspicious circumstances he gets a chance to come back home and they reconnect.  Passions overtake them but then he feels that he ‘has to’ leave town to protect her.  Ben did annoy me at times because he need to be more assertive and not floundering in his thoughts. This is a longer story than normal but it was so full of what was going on that it didn’t seem long at all to me.  This is a real page turner and you won’t want to put it down.  W|ell worth purchasing so that I can re-read it whenever I want to do!  Most definitely recommended!

Claiming His Baby by Nikki Chase

   Out Of Sight But Not out Of Mind!

Grace is a Mob princess and it has been arranged by her father that she is to marry another mob boss’s son to keep peace between the two families.  She rebels and has a night out at a BDSM club where all patrons wear masks. She encounters difficulties with a man and a masked stranger comes to her aid and says her name is Ashley to the tall, strong, gorgeous, hunky alpha male that she spends a night of red hot passion with. His name is Matteo.  At the end of the evening she leaves him promising to call him but she never does as she has more urgent things on her mind. Matteo cannot get her off his mind.  But Grace refuses to be a pawn in mob business and so she fakes her own death when she finds out that she is pregnant with his child  just disappears leaving some very angry people. When the rival boss shows his son, Matteo, a photo of the young woman that he is to marry he is more than happy as he is so attracted to her but she gave her name as Ashley.  Now he is determined to find her and why she faked her own death.  What happens four years later is when the real fun begins!!  Nikki Chase has composed a fabulous story for us here and it is so well written.  I thought Grace/Ashley was a fantastic heroine who was feisty and not prepared to just ‘roll over’ and do as her mob father said. She showed initiative and caring for her unborn child.  What will Matteo do if or when he finds her? How will her father react to her faking her death and disobeying him? To find out all these answers you’re going to have to get yourself a copy and read it just as I did.  I really encourage you to do this as this is Nikki’s best story, as far as I’m concerned, to date and is a real page turner that I had to read in one go as it is a must have read. There is passion, caring, terror, fear of reprisals and love throughout this book. A real roller coaster of emotions that will keep you riveted to the story right up to the end.  Enjoy!!

Elena, her sister and their brother knew Damon as they were growing up. Elena has had a crush on him for as long as she can remember but she thinks he just regards her as his friend’s little sister.  Damon and Elena’s families are involved in the mafia and Damon is a hitman for them.  He learns that it was because of her dad that he lost his family and he is intent on Retribution.  He also knows that Elena is where he is going to make her dad hurt the most when he plans to kidnap her and more.  But what he didn’t expect was to fall for her!  Nikki Chase has composed for us a delightfully sensual and passionate story full of emotions from the hard hitman who didn’t think his heart could get involved with anyone – never mind his ‘enemy’s daughter!  I have been reading Nikki Chase’s stories for a couple of years now and her stories always entertain me, captivate my attention and leave me looking forward for her next book.  So beautifully written with plenty of detail so that I almost felt as if I knew these two people.  Elena is a lovely young woman who has a very loving and caring  personality. Meanwhile Damon – the hard nosed hitman, has a gentle heart and he cares passionately about those that he loves and it was so easy to see why Elena loved him. When Damon’s plan doesn’t go accordingly he adapts but also realises that he is falling hard for her.  All does not go smoothly for this couple but they endure and their love will be tested again and again.  To find out whether they get their HEA and what will happen to her father, you’re going to have to get your own copy and I do encourage you to do so as this is a really great book that I didn’t put down until I’d completely read it all.  fans at the ready for the steamy scenes and remember to switch off your phones so that there are no interruptions! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

   Sky Watching In The Moonlight

Alexa hasn’t had the easiest of lives with her parents dying in an accident and now she is drowning in college debts. However, she’s back in Providence and has a job in the Mayor’s office and doing okay. It’s his birthday and everyone is invited to the party . She sits at the bar to get a drink and the most handsome man she’s ever seen starts talking to her. His name is Elias and he is funny, interesting, charming, sexy and just gorgeous and she can’t believe her luck.  He persuades to go with him  and she duly follows and he takes her to see an amazing view of their town and it’s surroundings, it’s romantic, he’s gorgeous and one thing leads to another and…Months later she realises that she needs to find him as a miracle has occurred and she is pregnant [she had been told it was impossible for her to get pregnant]!!  Elias was easy to find even though she could have just phoned him she went to see him in person and he was really pleased to see her again and had been thinking of her and when she tells him of their miracle he is really pleased but wary as Alexa says that she can’t afford to have a child and will give it up for adoption and he doesn’t have to be involved. But Elias is a real man, has real feelings for her and his baby and is going to do all he can to make Alexa and their baby His!!!  problems only occur when a corrupt mayor and the mafia get involved.  B.B. Hamel has created such a great and unique storyline here. I loved Elias as he’s had a tough life too but is so caring and tries to do his best and makes good on his responsibilities.  His friend Marko was a great friend to have but I don’t think I would have wanted to be his wife! Alexa has been alone for so long that when someone, i.e. Elias, shows that he does care for her way more than as a mere friend, it is lovely to see her blossom to know that she’s not on her own.  Vito and Jimmy are scary and Jimmy really should have been kept muzzled! A great solution and ending to the story. My favourite of B/B.’s books so far.

  Just Two Words

So she is spending her birthday in the cemetery mourning his death rather than celebrating her birthday.  She looks up and thinks she sees mark at a funeral in the cemetery.  But it isn’t Mark, his name is Logan and there are many similarities between the two men but she should keep away from Logan.  He is a doctor but he has just buried the woman who was the closest thing to a mother to him  as he couldn’t save her as his hands were tied. He’s dangerous to know as he works for a Mafia family as their doctor.  Harper just can’t believe that Logan isn’t Mark – they are identical and she feels the same chemistry to Logan as she did to Mark. They must be connected? Surely?  She’s determined to find out and this can get her into real trouble. Her first two words to Logan are “Kiss Me” and as he is attracted to her, he does. One thing leads to another…is there a real connection between Logan and her dead fiancée, Mark?  What trouble is she going to get into by being with Logan?  Secrets are difficult to keep and can cause misunderstandings. But what will Logan do when he finds out that Harper is carrying his baby?  Are his feelings for her deep enough to risk his own life to save her and the baby?  I really loved this story by Nikki Chase and as I’ve read all of her book available for kindle in the UK, I can honestly say that I think this is her best book yet!  Looking forward to her next story! Pricked (Chaos, Nevada Book 3) by Liz K. Lorde

   From Enemies To Lovers

This is book 3 of the Chaos Nevada Series by Liz K. Lorde.  There is so much going on in this story that you could never get bored in it.  We have a womanising playboy who is arrogant and thinks he can have any woman he wants. his father says he must marry otherwise he won’t be made CEO of the family business so he ‘persuades’ the little reporter, Jane, who has been hired by the Mafia to get the dirt on them so that they can take over. Then there is a stalker. Jane who doesn’t realise that she’s working for the Mafia. Plus the reactions of both Jane and Michael to one another are not those of just passing strangers.  Red hot passionate steamy sex scenes and secrets to boot !  All of this and more in this fast paced storyline that is unique.  A great read and can be easily read as a standalone although I’ve read the others and look forward to Liz’s next book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Bad Escort by Amber Jaye

  Fun Story but Needs Editing Better

This is a very funny, fast paced read that had me laughing out loud.  Amber Jaye has created Mickey [with an expensive shoe addiction – well we can all relate to that!] but she hasn’t the money to cover her debt to the loan shark. She goes to him and he says if she doesn’t deliver a parcel to his brother Eddie and spend a fun night with him for his birthday he will take it out on her brother and destroy her show collection!  Eddie meets her at the door dressed in only a towel and she is astonished that he is so gorgeous and goes into the apartment with him and leaves quickly afterwards even though she is so attracted to him and the feeling is mutual. There does need to be some serious editing on the story and it will read so much better then as there were often words missing and sentences didn’t always make sense which is a pity as, otherwise it is a fun read to relax with.  I will certainly be looking forward to her next book being published but hope the editing is much better.   Repaying His father’s Debt To The Mafia

This story surrounds Matt and Maya. He has saved up and is working hard to go to college and make his dreams come true but his father is not very sensible and owes money to a mob boss.  Matt either joins the gang and does jobs for them or his mum will suffer.  He’s a good son and so works for them. One deal goes wrong and he is beaten up in an alley and left for dead. Maya , who is nursing his ill father and living with an aunt,who is training to be a nurse is driving by when she sees a body in the alley and she goes to help. He won’t see an EMT so she takes him home and helps him heal. There was instant love between these two people who are both in situations through no fault of their own.  As much as he wants her and a relationship with her, Matt knows that it can never be as if the boss finds out he will use Maya as leverage against him. He watches Maya’s home and sees the goons who beat him up watching her. As soon as they leave he goes in to warn her but then their passions for one another take over and he takes her v-card. He leaves to never see her again to keep her safe. She pots him the next week but is sickened and hurt by what she sees him doing, so when she finds out that he left a part of him with her she leaves and disappears.  This is the first book that I’ve read by Lana Cameo but it certainly won’t be the last as it was so well written and I loved Matt and Maya. I’m pleased to say that it wasn’t anywhere near as dark a story as I expected when the word mafia was used.  Will they get their HEA?  How does Maya manage to carry on? What had Matt left for her?  Will they meet again?
